CMATVA Elk Ride Update

It was a beautiful morning on Sunday, November 10,2013 when the atvs-utvs started pulling in at Newman's Restaurant in Clarence for breakfast. A great meal was provided by the Newman staff along with the friendly service. After breakfast, everyone traveled to Benezette and met up with Henry Sorgen who led the crew to a nice place to park the vehicles. From there to the Elk center for registration and turn in the toys for children. Some people toured the center, watched a movie and bought a few items while others chatted in the parking areas.

People were divided into different crews and then rode their atvs-utvs to Benezette Restaurant for dinner and then to the winery to purchase items or gifts. The leaders took everyone on a tour looking for Elk traveling roads deep down into the hollows.  One large herd of Elk of about 92 was seen near the Elk center. A great time had by all. A big thank you to CMATVA  President Henry Sorgen & their volunteers to coordinate such a large event so we all could enjoy the day and have a positive economic impact on those businesses.

We also want to thank JP & Chris of Best Line Powersports, Kurt & his wife from Carns Equipment and Lee Williamson of Williamson Insurance Agency for participating in the event. It was nice to see their support for a nice gathering of atvist.

Carns-SSRTA 1st Annual Pig Roast

A brief rain shower in the morning held the dust down until the early afternoon. Then it rained hard throughout the day. People still came from far away to participate and support the event. We want to thank those dedicated atvist and supporters of the SSRT. Carns Equipment had a great selection of atvs & utvs to look at and several for demo use. There were numerous people that took the demos for a ride and hopefully are prospective customers. Chris, Jim, Kyle Vangor & Joe Walters did a great job cooking the pigs. The stuffing was fantastic.  Everyone was commenting how great the meat tastes as well as the rest of the meal that was prepared by Hall's Market.
Thank you to Carns Equipment for their support!!

Memorial Day Weekend "Thank You!"

After traveling to VA to purchase a used toyhauler, my husband and I went to SSRTA to camp and ride our RZR on May 25th. Finding the parking area full, we pulled into the center of the lot to wait until the day users left for the day to get a level spot.  Two brothers from New Jersey were camping in a tent and enclosed utility trailer and told us to pull alongside them. Eric and Stu went above and beyond being good neighbors to help us work the kinks out of operating all the new items on the 5th wheel toy hauler. Although we don't know their last name-a BIG Thank You to our new 4 wheelin friends. You both were awesome!

 Sincerely, Bob and Bonnie Grove

DCNR Youth Training Update

On Saturday, May 11, 2013 Best Line Powersports/SSRTA held DCNR Youth Certification Training at Best Line Powersports- Centre Hall location. Fourteen students attended the training.
Trainers were George Holt, Eric Brooks, Dave Walker, Marty Wagner & Ty Hostetter. Ed Kitchen , Forest Ranger from Rothrock State Forest also helped with the training and made a presentation. At the end of the class session, Ed invited everyone outside to look at an atv. This was not just any atv, it was an atv that a 16 year old boy lost his life.
The wrecked atv was from Perry County, Tuscarora State Forest. The accident was investigated by Ranger Steve Shaffer. He advised Ed Kitchen that the parents of the youth killed wanted to utilize the atv to help prevent future accidents and deaths.
Parents and students paid close attention to Ed speaking about the incident and how to prevent such things from reoccuring. Hopefully, this class and the atv will have an every lasting impression on those attending the training prevent future accidents.
The rain did not stop the children from having their training and enjoying a great time as well. They seem to all love the mud and enjoyed a lunch provided by Bestline and Snow Shoe Rails to Trails.
At the end of the training all students were presented a temporary certificate to operate an atv and also a SSRT T-Shirt presented by Trilby Mayes (SSRTA President)
