Members Ride Update & Photos
Snow Shoe Rails to Trails members met on Friday, June 13, 2014 at Rees Restaurant for breakfast. A great meal had by all. Then, it was off to Gillentown Trailhead to unload atvs, utvs and get started on a ride on the SSRT and over to the Bloody Skillet.
We were accompanied by CEO of Best Line, Mike Getz. Mike brought along a new Polaris Ace to ride and also provide it to anyone wanting to test drive.
Eric Brooks usually schedules this ride yearly and again a great turnout and a great time had by all. Thank you Mike for attending the ride as we all enjoyed your company and for letting us do the test ride too.

Renovo ATV Cruise Photos 2014
A big thank you to Henry Sorgen & the team from CMATVA that put in the countless hours planning the route for the ride. Some really good scenic spots were chosen for breaks. DCNR has also been very cooperative in supporting the event and participated in helping out along the route.
Mid way point the Boy Scouts were serving up hot dogs for a really good snack. Then, at the end of the ride, a wonderful meal of bbq chicken was served. Excellent job done by so many people.
Snow Shoe Rails to Trails was one of the many supporters for the event. A number of vendor supporters also had atvs, utvs on display.

Potato City/Marienville Ride Update
A group of SSRTA members went to Potato City in Coudersport for a few days and stayed at the Mill Stream Inn. A great place to stay if you go anywhere near Coudersport. They ate breakfast at Fezzs Restaurant and had great meals for a reasonable price. The group stopped off for a few days at the Forest Lodge Motel outside Marienville. A great place to stay that has direct access to the Marienville Trail (when it is open). Kelly's Motel is a great place to eat breakfast and Betinna's is a great place to eat fish on Friday night. The group rode the Timberline Trail, and then rode to Russell City Store for a snack. By Saturday, the group returned to ride the SSRT in Snow Shoe. A great week of riding with a great bunch of friends and a chance to meet some new atvist friends as well. What a great week of atving!!!!!
The members also got a chance to discuss the conditions of the Timberline & Marienville Trails with the Recreation Director - Joe Langianese and his maintenance supervisor. We appreciated the informational discussion. Great bunch of guys.

Bloody Skillet Work Detail Photos
Each morning the volunteers would meet Bob Fitterling of DCNR at the northern trailhead on DeHaas Road and discuss work needing done. Then, the workers would divide up into various group to tackle those specific task. Each group would report back to the trailhead at noon to have lunch provided by Snow Shoe Rails to Trails.
Hoagies & snacks were purchased from two of our corporate sponsors, Newman's Sandwich Shop & Jack's Snack Shack.
Work consisted of cutting back tree limbs overhanging the trail, remove fallen trees or trees that were considered safety concerns, install, replace missing or vandalized signs, collect trash.
Approximately 11/2 pickup loads of trash was collected in the three day work detail.
We got a chance to meet John Long, Dave Felix & Todd Condon all workers of DCNR. Time shared was great talking about atv riding, problems, concerns and benefits. We all had a great time doing the work and enjoying each others friendship.
We also want to thank Doug DeMor of DCNR for allowing us to help out and prepare the trail for open day of the summer season.
